Your time, your starting point

More room to learn without the rush.

Private firearms training is for the person who does not want to squeeze every question into a group setting. Maybe you are new to shooting and want a calm first session. Maybe you own a firearm but have not spent enough time building consistent habits. Or maybe a group class showed you exactly where focused practice would help. One-on-one instruction gives you the space to slow down, ask directly, and work on what matters to you.

CNC Academy’s live-fire coaching is built around the same practical standard as its classroom courses: safety comes first, fundamentals deserve attention, and confidence should come from repeatable habits instead of guesswork. The instructor can give your grip, stance, handling, accuracy, and maintenance basics the attention they need, at a pace that lets you stay engaged.

What focused coaching can cover

Work on the skills that deserve your attention.

A private session turns broad goals into practical, instructor-led work.

01

Safe handling routines

Practice the deliberate handling habits that support control, attention, and better decisions from the moment a firearm is present.

02

Grip, stance, and trigger control

Work through the physical fundamentals that make range time more productive and help you notice what needs adjustment.

03

Accuracy with purpose

Use instructor feedback to connect technique with more consistent, intentional shooting rather than simply sending rounds downrange.

04

Clearer next steps

Leave with a better sense of what to practice, when a group course fits, and which questions should be verified before your next training decision.

One session, used well

Bring the goal. Build the foundation.

The most useful private session starts with an honest picture of where you are. You do not need polished language or a perfect plan. You can arrive knowing that you want safer handling, steadier fundamentals, more comfort at the range, or individual help after a previous class. Clear questions give the instructor a useful place to begin.

This is not a shortcut around responsible preparation. It is a chance to give core skills the focused time they often need. A one-hour session can create a stronger baseline when you listen closely, practice carefully, and keep expectations realistic. The goal is not to promise instant mastery. It is to replace uncertainty with clearer habits and a more useful plan for continued practice.

Before your session

Reserve a current appointment, review the booking details, and call CNC Academy if you want to confirm what to bring or discuss your equipment.

At the range

Follow the instructor and range staff closely. Private attention works best when safe handling and direct communication stay ahead of speed or performance.

Use the feedback

Ask about the fundamentals you want to improve, then give yourself time to repeat the guidance carefully instead of trying to fix everything at once.

Keep building

Use the session as a foundation for responsible range practice, a future class, or the next training step that matches your actual goal.

Practical details

Equipment is part of being prepared.

CNC Academy currently lists its private live-fire session at GAT Guns in East Dundee. The published $180 price includes a Ruger SR22 rental, 100 rounds of .22 ammunition, targets, eye and ear protection, and the range fee. Those inclusions make it easier for a student who wants to focus on instruction without assembling every item for a first session.

If you use your own firearm, CNC Academy asks you to bring your own ammunition or purchase it at the range. Steel-cased ammunition is not permitted at GAT Guns. Equipment details and availability can change, so a quick call before booking is the sensible move when you have a specific question.

Why CNC Academy

Instruction should answer the question in front of you.

One-on-one training is valuable because it puts the student’s actual starting point ahead of a one-size-fits-all pace. CNC Academy can focus on the fundamentals that affect your confidence and safe handling, while keeping the session grounded in responsible decision-making. That is useful whether you are learning the basics, returning after time away, or looking for more dedicated range instruction.

That individual attention is especially useful when a small uncertainty has been holding you back. A private session gives you time to ask about a technique, work through a handling routine slowly, and hear feedback while the lesson is still in front of you. It is a more productive way to address a specific sticking point than guessing through it alone.

CNC Academy has trained Illinois residents since 2016 and has 348 five-star Google reviews from students. The academy’s practical style, direct teaching, supportive setting, and serious approach to responsibility give private students a setting where questions are welcome and shortcuts are not the point.

A private session does not replace continued practice. It gives you a more thoughtful place to start that practice, with clear feedback from an instructor and a better understanding of what you want to work on next.

Choose the right format

Private coaching, safety class, or certification?

Private firearms training is the right choice when individual coaching is your priority. You may want more time on basic handling, a more personal learning pace, or live-fire feedback that a broader group class cannot provide in the same way. It is a focused training session for an adult who wants direct attention and practical guidance.

A firearm safety class can be a better starting point when you want a short, hands-on introduction to safe handling, shooting techniques, and situational awareness in a supportive group setting. It gives you a structured first step without asking you to arrive ready for a full certification course.

If you are pursuing your first Illinois concealed carry license, choose CNC Academy’s weekday or weekend 16-hour certification training. That course has a different purpose and includes the required curriculum and live-fire qualification. Choosing the right format makes the experience more useful from the first lesson.
